Heather Hodges met Ignasio Gous in 1988 and they fell in love, marrying and having a daughter, Victoria. However, after Heather’s parents fell ill, Ignasio began an affair with Shauna Nelson, a dispatcher at his police department.
The affair escalated, with Shauna getting a tattoo of Ignasio’s family name and stalking him. When she got pregnant, Ignasio pressured her to abort. Heather tried to repair their marriage, but Shauna, feeling betrayed, harassed her. On January 23, 2007, Heather was shot and killed by a masked gunman, and Shauna was soon identified as the suspect.
Shauna was convicted of first-degree murder, and her husband, a police officer, resigned and divorced her. Heather’s family was devastated, and her daughter tragically died in a car accident in 2015.
