On June 27, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., Detective Paul Quinn and Police Officer Nicolas Losurdo were conducting a routine check of Pier A Park to advise people that the park was closed, and they would have to leave. The officers observed an intoxicated man approaching their vehicle. When they told him the park was closed, he became irate and questioned why he had to leave. He matched the description of an actor in an aggravated assault in the area on June 24. He was identified as 37-year-old Jose Omar Rojas of Hoboken, and he had an outstanding failure to appear warrant for simple assault out of Jersey City. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and then to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
