Execution of Justice, a poignant play grounded in real events, will be staged by Ursinus College Theater in November as its 2021-22 season continues after the recent Fringe Festival. It follows the trial of California politician and ex-police officer Dan White for the assassinations of Harvey Milk, one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States, and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone.
Emily Mann’s play draws on the court transcripts and public records detailing the events of the trial, the verdict of which led to riots in San Francisco.
Performances are November 3, 4, and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and November 6 at 2 p.m. in the Lenfest Theater in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center on the Ursinus College campus. The November 6 performance will include an ASL interpretation.
