Fifteen people have died in violent unrest in Papua New Guinea. Violent clashes broke out in the capital city of Port Moresby and the second largest city Lae after peaceful demonstrations by police, defence and other public servants over a payroll issue escalated into deadly riots. Hundreds flooded the streets burning down shops and businesses. Footage showed plumes of fire and smoke billowing above a building and mass looting amid angry protests.
