On October 21, 2023 former Police Chief Greg Hallgrimson of the Greenwood Police Department Located in Greenwood, MO. was sentenced to 18 years in prison after being found guilty at trial. He was accused of punching his wife until she was unconcious in 2020 and attempted to cover it up. He was found guilty of one count of first-degree assault.
Hallgrimson was hailed as a hero cop back in 2018 when he helped rescue a 6-month infant from an icy pond. Things turned south quickly when it was discovered that Hallgrimson had beat up the suspect in that case which led to Hallgrimson resigning and being charged for the assault. He pled guilty in that case and was place on 5 years probation in 2021.
