On June 21st, 2023, law enforcement officers were called to a situation involving shoplifting. The store manager indicated that a woman had exited the store without paying for the items she had taken. Due to the woman’s unwillingness to cooperate, the officers were compelled to use physical force. Subsequently, she was charged with minor theft, assaulting a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.
On June 24th, 2022, law enforcement was dispatched to handle a disturbance. A man, under the influence and acting unpredictably, was not complying with the store employees. To safely escort him out, officers had to place the man in a shopping cart. He was subsequently transported to the hospital for medical attention and charged with shoplifting.
On April 9th, 2023, law enforcement intervened in an ongoing retail theft, where a man was caught on CCTV placing merchandise into his pockets. Upon confirmation of his identity, officers detained him, discovering additional stolen items concealed in his clothing, some of which he claimed to own. During processing, it emerged he had an outstanding warrant. Despite efforts to de-escalate and assist him, including locating his phone, the man persistently behaved aggressively, verbally abusing the officers and refusing to calm down.
In December 2022, officers were called to a CVS Pharmacy in Eau Claire, WI, after a woman refused to leave post-closing, suspected of attempting to steal approximately $800 in cosmetics. This incident was followed by her arrest for another theft months later, after which she was released on a reduced bond. Despite this, she was arrested an additional seven times for various offenses.
