KOTA KINABALU: A woman who argued with policemen at a roadblock and threatened them was not only arrested at her home and remanded but also saw the clothes she wore on the day of the incident put on display at a police press conference.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the 34-year-old woman was arrested at a condominium in Jalan Lintas at around 11.
20am yesterday.
She has been remanded for two days for threatening policemen at the roadblock in Jalan Kepayan, here.
Among the items confiscated were the clothes the woman wore at the incident, her mobile phone, vehicle registration certificate and car keys.
“The clothes were confiscated in order to confirm if it was the same set of clothes as the woman in the video recording,” he said.
Zaidi added that three smartphones belonging to policemen on duty at the roadblock were also confiscated to assist in further investigations.
He explained that the policemen at the roadblock had issued the woman summonses for driving with an expired road tax and without vehicle insurance.
“However, a commotion ensued, with the woman saying ‘Who do you think you are? You’re lucky you’re a man, if you were a woman I’d strip you naked and beat you up’.
”Zaidi said his team had recorded statements from an officer, seven policemen and Rela members.
According to him, the investigation was being conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
“The investigation is 80% complete and the woman has given her cooperation since she was arrested,” he said.
A video, which previously went viral, showed a woman arguing with a traffic policeman and his colleagues at the roadblock in Kepayan.
